The opening of France Design Week in the region will bring together professionals, institutions, students and cultural stakeholders in an iconic venue for contemporary Basque design. It will be an opportunity to discover the regional programme, meet those driving design forward in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and share a moment of cross-border exchange.

One of the highlights of the day will be the presentation of the Hemendik project by designer Jean-Louis Iratzoki. The book and accompanying research highlight traditional objects from the Basque Country, their uses and associated knowledge, and the evolution of their material culture. Hemendik fosters a dialogue between design, craftsmanship, industry and heritage, demonstrating how contemporary creation can convey the identity of a region.
